Luminessence

Co-fermented blend of Alsatian white wine grapes; bright, full, zippy

About this wine

Hector Wine Company’s representation of a traditional field blend. Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc are both picked first on September 17, 2024 and September 18, 2024 respectively. The fermentation is started using wild yeast. The Gewurztraminer is added on September 24, 2024 to the active fermentation. Finally the Riesling is added on October 9, 2024. This cofermentation of this wine allows for better integration between the components, leading to unique aromatics and mouthfeel. This wine is held in tank on the lees, until it is bottled in the spring of 2025.

Vintage Notes

2024 started two weeks early in comparison to other vintages, a warm stretch through March allowed the vines to wake up and undergo budbreak earlier than expected. This vintage is defined by two things the diurnal shifts and the near drought like conditions. Diurnal shifts are the warm day time temperatures coupled with the cool night time temperatures. The second were the drought conditions, record low rainfall lead to smaller berries and increased concentration in the wines. This created an environment that is conducive to great ripeness and great acidity in the wines. The reds are bright, fruity, and structured, and the whites are elegant and crisp. An exciting vintage that will produce wines with great age-ability.
